About me

Hello! I am a first-generation Mexican American student at Cornell College. I am a Posse scholar, meaning I received a competitive full-tuition leadership award to attend Cornell. My parents are from Zacatecas Mexico and I am their third child of five. Of my family, I am the first to go to college out of state. I enjoy reading more than I enjoy anything else, and am working on my first novel “Reflections”.

What I hope to get from this internship

I am hoping that being surrounded by other writers will help me build a better understanding and community of writers and the impact we can have in society. I wish to build my confidence in my own writing and the process that it takes me to get there. Being at Chautauqua will better prepare me to adapt to new environments, and other modes of thinking in such a creative field. My ultimate goal is to celebrate writing and literature, and to help re-establish its importance in a time that is trying to erase it.
