Research Project Development
I have made a lot of progress towards the development of the two research projects I’m on. For my study on the benefits of group physical therapy on ACL reconstruction rehabilitation, I have completed all the programming in REDCap (a data collection and analysis software commonly used in healthcare research) that physical therapists will need to input the data and the research team will use to analyze the data. I manually input the prompts for physical therapists to respond to (measurements for leg length, leg mobility, and the output from multiple strengths tests) and downloaded questionnaires that study participants will be filling out in August. While I will likely only get to see the beginning of this data collection, I will have played a fairly important role in the ability to process the data from it.
The second study I am on is called BRONCOS, and in the last couple weeks I have made significant progress on it. The data from this paper was a number of different questionnaire results collected from high school athletes in fall 2025. So while I was not actively involved in the data collection process for this study, we do have access to all the study’s results. The PI on this project, David, ran the statistical analysis of this data, and provided me with graphs, charts, and a basic overview of the data collected. My role on this project is to write a research paper that I can submit to the D’Ambrosia Conference here at CU Anschutz in October.
MRC Intern Outing
One activity the head of the Musculoskeletal Research Center, Patrick, offers each year is the summer internship trip to Coors Field in downtown Denver for the Rockies baseball game. The orthopedics research department all attended together after our weekly journal club meeting. We meet each Wednesday morning for these journal clubs, then listen to a member of the orthopedics research department chat to us about a topic regarding orthopedics research. The goal of these orthopedics lectures are to spark interest in research so interns will be more likely to get involved in it post-medical school. I love listening to these lectures and they definitely have made me much more interested in getting involved in research as a physician one day. Last Wednesday, after the journal club and the orthopedics lecture, interns grabbed lunch together then went to the Rockies game. The train ride was fairly short and very fun, and we were really glad we didn’t have to worry about finding parking downtown!

The game itself was very exciting! All interns also got certificates from the stadium for this being our first Rockies game.
Exploring Colorado Parks and Activities
Outside of the internship, I have explored many parks in the Denver area. We went to the Chatfield, Cherry Creek, Estes, and Horsetooth Reservoirs, and they were all so beautiful and fun to swim at. The state parks they are in are all so scenic! We also explored multiple farmers markets recommended by other interns/my research assistant, including Cherry Creek, Market in the Parket, and City Park Farmers Markets!
