Matea Marshall '27 is interning Waypoint Services in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is assisting with responsibilities such as completing homework, staying on task, organizing and filing papers, and spending time one on one with the children in the Waypoint program. She is gaining hands-on experience to aid in her ultimate pursuit of a career in mental health services.

I am an incoming senior at Cornell College studying psychology with a hope to pursue a career in counseling and psychotherapy. I am passionate about helping people and communities grow. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and moved all the way to Iowa to attend Cornell. I am comfortable with big changes and adapting and learning through experience and am excited for what the future has in store.
I hope this internship will give me valuable hands-on experience and knowledge of how organizations work to support their communities. I want to be a part of the help and growth of women and children and serve as a comforting, supportive figure for those in need.
