Week 2:
Just Keep Swimming
Starting the day off reading and replying to several emails
June 11, 2022

This week presented some great learning opportunities, and I am thankful to the senior employees who have made a conscious effort to teach me new skills so when they delegate tasks, I would complete them with more efficiency. I start an average workday going through emails and replying to clients. Those emails mostly consist of queries that clients may have about the event or first-time clients reaching out to our catering company for an event they want to plan for the future. Checking the completed surveys and recording essential responses is the next task on my agenda. The clients that are hosting an event or a wedding have to fill out a survey that tells ‘Amazing Edibles’ precisely what they want. The two recurring projects got a bit tedious mid-week, but they are crucial to the company’s success. I’m glad the CEO put me in charge of them as I want to prove that I am ready for more responsibility.

After I am done with what I am supposed to do, my fellow employees start delegating some of their tasks, and I am happy to oblige. However, the first half of this week was a bit different. Curate and Avery are two websites that I was taught how to navigate and complete projects on. Curate is a website the company uses to create wedding proposals for their clients, and Avery is what we use to create table tents. First, I have to type the options from our company menu that the clients selected onto the wedding templates in Avery. After printing what I typed, I carefully have to separate four different parts of the paper and then organize them (in the picture above) before delivering the product to the on-site team.

When I was getting lunch on Thursday, I asked a chef what the room at the back was and why is it was locked every time I see it. He got the keys and showed me that it was a storage room for alcoholic drinks, juices, and water. It was more like a cold storage where it was below 15 degrees for sure. The reason I have a separate small paragraph dedicated to this is because the mere concept of a cold storage was new to me, and it was quite fascinating as I realized that this is indeed the best way to store the beverages so the people at the weddings and other events may enjoy them. ‘Amazing Edibles’ prides itself on high quality service, and I believe their cold storage signifies that.
I made many more sales calls this week, which entailed me trying to convince the client to choose ‘Amazing Edibles’ after they called the company to know more. I was successful in most of them, but in some, I was not. Although, I am not too worried about that as know I am still learning. This week was overall a very productive one, and I hope the next one is even better.
