About me

Hi, my name is Ella McLaughlin, and I am a sophomore at Cornell College. I am majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minoring in Spanish. At school, I am a member of the volleyball team, serve on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and am a Sports Medicine Assistant (SMA). Last summer, I had the opportunity to work with Catherine Volle researching the effects of antimicrobial peptides on bacteria. Thanks to my previous experience with research through Cornell Summer Research Institute (CSRI), I feel confident and excited to be on the clinical side of research.

What I hope to get from this internship

This summer I hope to learn more about the clinical side of research. I feel that this experience will be an opportunity to learn and grow as an aspiring medical professional. After I graduate, I plan on pursuing medical school. I am excited to work alongside doctors who engage in clinical research and have the opportunity to shadow physicians working at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
