About me

My name is Sophie Stumbo, and I am currently finishing my sophomore year at Cornell. I am majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the pre-med track and minoring in Studio Art. I am a member of the cross country and track and field teams, a chemistry tutor, and a tour guide. Last summer, I worked with Professor Catherine Volle researching the growing antibiotic resistance of bacteria and alternative treatment methods. After the positive experience I had last summer, I am excited to continue doing research and explore the clinical side of research.

What I hope to get from this internship

I am very excited for the opportunity to do clinical research, shadow physicians, and get to meet and work with people who are both practicing doctors and researchers. After graduating from Cornell, I plan to go to medical school. I think this experience will open my eyes to different medical professions, help me learn new research processes, and allow me to grow as a scientist and as a person.
