Week 3:
Deploying the Sensor
June 8, 2021
The Sensor
This week was very similar to the previous two weeks, work on the water sensor and collect the water samples, that was until Friday came. We deployed the water sensor! This is just a trial run, to make sure that the sensor is accurate and working as expected. The sensor was deployed on the dock of the Port Royal Sound Maritime Center and will remain there until next Friday. Since this week was very much the same as the previous two, I will focus more on what I did in my free time.

Exploring Beaufort
I spent a lot of my time exploring Beaufort. I took long walks and really looked at the unique architecture. While I am no architect, I can appreciate the beautiful houses here. I am trying to take advantage of the summer heat before the humidity starts to become unbearable. Let me tell you, it is so very hot down south. It is one thing to know of the heat but to experience it is next level. When I was not in the lab or on a walk, I spent time with my roommates, Kristen and Iesha.

On Friday, Krispy Kreme was giving away free donuts so being the big fan I am, I planned a trip with my roommates to the nearest Krispy Kreme. The nearest Krispy Kreme is an hour away in Savannah, GA. After lab on Friday, we piled into my car and made the hour-long journey across state lines for donuts. After acquiring the donuts, we spent the next several hours walking around the historic downtown of Savannah and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

The weather on the drive back was another story… it started pouring rain so bad and I learned that I may need new brighter headlights for my car. Overall, this was a very fun week, and I am excited to see the results of the sensor next Friday.
