I have reached the end of my internship and to say that these past two months have flown by would be an understatement.
Alana Avelar '25 is interning with Escola d’Adults La Verneda and Agora in Barcelona, Spain. She is splitting her time between two internship sites by supporting faculty at the school and then assisting staff at an NGO that partners with Agora on different initiatives as needed.

Hello, my name is Alana Avelar and I am a Junior majoring in International Relations with a minor in Economics and Business. I am very interested in different countries, cultures, and traveling. I am thrilled to pursue an internship in Spain this summer which will be invaluable to me both personally and professionally.
This internship will allow me to see what my major, International Relations, is like in the real world, which will help me in my future classes at Cornell. Furthermore, I hope to improve my Spanish language skills as I will be able to use the language in my everyday life. This experience will also allow me to learn more about different cultures, countries, art, history, and so much more.
